About the Role
As a Store Assistant, you will manage and support store equipment and inventory operations at South African Air Force bases. You’ll ensure equipment is safely stored, correctly received, and accounted for in registers. This is a hands-on entry-level position, perfect for candidates with good attention to detail and basic numeracy skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Store Management
- Receive and inspect equipment and goods
- Record all items in store registers
- Ensure items are in good condition upon receipt
Safety & Compliance
- Be familiar with the prescribed Fire Order (DD19) for stores
- Use fire extinguishing equipment correctly
- Report defects or discrepancies in store equipment
General Tasks
- Perform ad hoc store tasks as instructed
- Maintain an organised and efficient store area
- Assist colleagues in handling and tracking stock
Requirements
- ABET qualification (minimum education)
- No experience required
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills for teamwork and coordination
- Attention to detail and basic numeracy skills
- Ability to follow procedures and perform routine tasks reliably
