DALRRD is advertising seven (7) security-related vacancies across two provinces:
1. Senior Security Officer (1 Post)

Location: Middleburg, Eastern Cape
Salary: R228 321 per annum (Level 05)
2. Security Officer (2 Posts)
Ref No: 3/3/1/03/2025
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Salary: R163 980 per annum (Level 03)
3. Security Officer (4 Posts)
Ref No: 3/3/1/04/2025
Location: Middleburg, Eastern Cape
Salary: R163 980 per annum (Level 03)
Minimum Requirements (Combined)
Senior Security Officer (Grade B – EC)
- Grade 12
- PSIRA Grade B
- Minimum 3 years of security experience
- Knowledge of:
- Access control and physical security
- Control of equipment and stores
- MISS, MPSS, Protection of Information Act, Criminal Procedure Act
- Emergency procedures
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, travel, weekends, public holidays and after-hours
Security Officers (Grade C – GP & EC)
- Basic Education and Training (NQF Level 3) or higher
- PSIRA Grade C
- Knowledge of:
- Access control
- Movement control of assets and documents
- MISS, MPSS, Protection of Information Act
- Emergency response
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, travel and irregular hours
Combined Key Duties
Access Control & Visitor Management
- Verify visitor appointments
- Issue access cards and maintain control registers
- Escort visitors when needed
- Operate X-ray machines and metal detectors
- Prevent unauthorised entry of people or dangerous objects
Safety, Patrols & Incident Response
- Conduct building and perimeter patrols
- Identify hazards (fire, leaks, exposed wiring, suspicious items)
- Implement emergency procedures (bomb threats, riots, evacuations)
- Respond to alarms and security incidents
- Monitor and report suspicious behaviour
Asset, Document & Vehicle Control
- Ensure equipment and documents do not leave or enter premises without permission
- Inspect incoming and outgoing vehicles
- Handle classified documents according to prescripts
- Record all movements in relevant registers
Control Room Operations
(Applicable mainly to Senior Security Officer)
- Supervise control room personnel
- Monitor CCTV, alarms and surveillance systems
- Review footage upon proper request
- Ensure systems are serviced and functional
Supervisory & Administrative Duties
(Senior Security Officer)
- Allocate daily duties and supervise security staff/service providers
- Maintain performance, training and leave administration
- Manage shift rosters and overtime
- Compile incident reports and ensure compliance with security standards
