
Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) continues to empower communities through its Learnership and Technical Apprenticeship Programmes for 2025. These opportunities are tailored for young South Africans passionate about technical and trade careers. Training will take place at the Technical Learning Academy (TLA) in Uitenhage, with full support from the Union as part of Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to skills development and transformation.
About the Opportunity
The VWSA Learnership Programme offers full-time, trade-related training across various technical disciplines. Participants will receive a blend of theoretical and practical learning, preparing them for a career in the automotive and manufacturing industries.
Available Apprenticeship Fields
Applications are open for the following disciplines:
- Electrical
- Mechanical Fitter
- Millwright
- Automotive Motor Mechanic
- Tool Making
- Welding
- Transportation Electrician
- Mechatronics Technician
Successful candidates will train in a world-class environment at the Volkswagen Technical Learning Academy, gaining exposure to both hands-on experience and classroom-based education.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) with a pass in Core Mathematics and Physical Science (Maths Literacy not accepted), OR
- N3 Certificate with four subjects, including Core Mathematics and Physical Science (or higher).
Candidate Expectations
- Applicants will undergo interviews and assessments.
- Clearly indicate your first and second choice field of study.
- Must be willing to complete part-time studies during the programme.
- Overtime work will only be allowed if authorised.
- Internal VW employees must include their current job title and SAP number.
- Those who have previously qualified through TLA Learnerships/Apprenticeships will not be considered.
- Successful internal candidates will return to a vacant production role upon completion.
