City of Mbombela Traffic Officer Learnership

The City of Mbombela, a Category 7 Municipality in Mpumalanga Province, is inviting unemployed youth who are passionate about road safety and community service to apply for its Traffic Officer Learnership Programme 2025.

This 12-month programme provides comprehensive training in line with the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996), equipping successful candidates with the essential knowledge and practical experience to serve as qualified Traffic Officers.

Successful learners will receive a monthly stipend during the training period while gaining valuable on-the-job experience in traffic law enforcement and road safety education.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must:

  • Hold a Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Possess a valid driving licence
  • Be under 35 years of age
  • Have no criminal record or pending cases
  • Be physically fit and willing to undergo training
  • Be a South African citizen and permanent resident of the City of Mbombela
  • Provide Proof of Residence and indicate their Ward Number on the application form

Key Responsibilities

During the programme, learners will receive theoretical and practical training on:

  • Traffic law enforcement
  • Road safety awareness and education
  • Municipal by-laws and road management principles

Training will align with the National Road Traffic Act, ensuring learners gain relevant and accredited skills.


Stipend and Duration

  • Stipend: R6,500 per month
  • Duration: 12 months (1 year)
  • Benefits: No additional allowances or benefits provided
