About the JSE Empowerment Fund Bursary 2026

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), Africa’s largest stock exchange, is committed to driving education and transformation through the JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF). Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)

To qualify for the JSE Empowerment Fund Bursary, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have completed Matric.
  • Be registered for full-time undergraduate or Honours studies in 2026.
  • Be entering 2nd, 3rd, or Honours year of study in 2026.
  • Study at one of the following universities:
    • University of Pretoria (UP)
    • University of Johannesburg (UJ)
    • University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
    • University of Cape Town (UCT)
    • University of Limpopo (UL)
    • University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)
    • University of the Free State (UFS)
    • University of Fort Hare (UFH)
    • Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
    • North-West University (NWU)
  • Achieve a minimum overall average of 70%.
  • Have a total household income of R650 000 or less per year.
  • Be from a previously disadvantaged background.
