About the JSE Empowerment Fund Bursary 2026
The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), Africa’s largest stock exchange, is committed to driving education and transformation through the JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF). The 2026 bursary programme provides financial support to academically talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue studies in finance, data, and technology-related fields.
This bursary is aimed at undergraduate and Honours-level students, ensuring they can focus on their studies without the burden of financial constraints.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)
To qualify for the JSE Empowerment Fund Bursary, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have completed Matric.
- Be registered for full-time undergraduate or Honours studies in 2026.
- Be entering 2nd, 3rd, or Honours year of study in 2026.
- Study at one of the following universities:
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Limpopo (UL)
- University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)
- University of the Free State (UFS)
- University of Fort Hare (UFH)
- Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- North-West University (NWU)
- Achieve a minimum overall average of 70%.
- Have a total household income of R650 000 or less per year.
- Be from a previously disadvantaged background.

Successful candidates will receive financial assistance for tuition fees and study-related expenses, ensuring they can succeed academically without financial barriers.
