Mafube Coal is a 50/50 joint venture between Thungela Resources and Exxaro Resources, operating a major opencast mine that supplies primarily to the export market.

Learnership Streams & Reference Numbers

You can apply for one of the following trades:

  • Electrical — REF: MAF 01 ELEC
  • Fitter — REF: MAF 02 FIT
  • Instrumentation — REF: MAF 03 INST
  • Rigger — REF: MAF 04 RIG
  • Plater — REF: MAF 05 PLAT

What the Learnership Entails

The programme includes:

  • Theoretical and practical training at CTC
  • Structured on-the-job training on site
  • Completion of all modules, assessments, and trade test requirements

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Grade 12 plus N2 / Technical qualification with relevant trade subjects
  • Knowledge of Safety Systems, Regulations, and Standards
  • Able and willing to work shifts, standby, and call-outs when required
  • Certificate of fitness (or ability to obtain one)
  • Valid driver’s licence
