Main Purpose of the Job
To respond to emergency calls and deliver basic medical care within the defined scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Readiness: Ensure readiness for emergency calls by maintaining equipment, vehicles, and necessary supplies.
- Patient Care: Provide basic medical assistance in line with the HPCSA scope of practice.
- Public Relations: Represent ER24 positively by maintaining a professional and approachable public image.
Required Education
- Essential: Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate.
- Desired: Completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Note: Non-compliant candidates must complete CPG training during the probation period.
Required Experience
- Essential: 6 months to 1 year of road BLS (Basic Life Support) experience.
- Desired: 2 years of road BLS experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with local facilities, travel routes, and demographics.
- Comprehensive understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Ability to apply best practices in the EMS environment.
- Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal).
- Ability to complete and manage Patient Report Forms effectively.
