SAPS: Panel Beater (Constable)
Position: Panel Beater (Constable)
Remuneration: R226,188 per annum (Band A)
General Requirements:
- Applicants must demonstrate competency in the specific functions required for the post.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
- Possession of a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license.
- No prior criminal or departmental convictions, and no pending criminal/departmental cases.
- No visible tattoos while wearing any uniform of the Service.
- Applicants will undergo a vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.
Additional Requirements:
- Relevant valid Trade Test Certificate, as stipulated by the Skills Development Amendment Act 37/2008.
- Experience in the field will be considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strip vehicles and diagnose defects.
- Identify and compile a list of required spare parts.
- Ensure correct spares are received and assembled properly.
- Document job details in a job card and present it to the technical advisor along with the vehicle.

- Only the official SAPS application form (available at www.saps.gov.za and at SAPS police stations) will be accepted. The previously used Z83 form is no longer valid.
- All instructions on the application form must be followed, or the application may be rejected.
- Applicants must submit a comprehensive CV along with uncertified copies of their ID, Senior Certificate, relevant qualifications, proof of experience, and a valid driver’s license.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce original documents during the selection process, and qualifications/licenses will be verified with relevant institutions.
- Late applications will not be considered.
Additional Information:
- Shortlisted candidates may undergo a personal interview and practical assessment.
- Successful candidates will be vetted according to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007, and the Children’s Act, 2005. Those listed in relevant offender registers will be disqualified.
- Candidates must disclose if they are respondents in protection orders under the Domestic Violence Act, 1998, or the Protection from Harassment Act, 2011, which may disqualify them.
- Only successful candidates will be contacted. If you do not receive a response within three months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
- Appointments will be made under the South African Police Service Act, Act 68 of 1995.
- Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act may need to undergo a lateral entry programme at a SAPS Academy & Training Centre.
