Job DescriptionRCL FOODS is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Fitter to support the Engineering and Maintenance department by maintaining and repairing plant assets and coaching artisan assistants. RCL FOODS excepts that suitable incumbent to perform mechanical maintenance within the plant. The role will be based at our Animal Feed plant in Pietermaritzburg and will report to the Maintenance Manager.
Minimum RequirementsFitter Trade Test with Feed Milling experience Must have Code EB license & own transport. Turning qualification and experience will be an added advantage Must have mechanical and applicable electrical experience and fault finding. Ability to do machining will be an advantage. Boiler, Steam, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic experience would be an advantage. Knowledge of Maintenance program will be an advantage. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Ability to co-ordinate maintenance and projects. Prepared to work shifts, standby, call outs, week-ends and overtime when required. Ability to communicate in English. Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment. Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, attention to detail. Must have the ability to work on MS office
Duties & ResponsibilitiesContributes to Functional Strategy into Action Actions, and initiates SIA actions especially with regards to asset management. Operational Maintenance Implements Operational asset productivity and care through the planned maintenance strategy by: Noting and raising maintenance issues with the maintenance manager Maintains workshop appearance and image through good housekeeping practices. Fault finds on mechanical equipment to ascertain and repair faults to ensure production can continue. Attends to mechanical breakdowns timeously to minimise production downtime. Conducts planned maintenance as per job card schedule and signs off job once job has been completed send to the planner to keep a feedback into the On Key system. Conducts routine checks on boilers and compressors. Required to manufacture small parts on an ad hoc basis to ensure production is not compromised and to ensure equipment is maintained to an acceptable standard. Required to overhaul pellet mill rolls, pumps and gearboxes when required. Implementation of Safety Health Environment, Risk and Quality (SHEQ) Implements and complies to health and Safety procedures Ensure that documentation required within the Total Integrated Management system (TIMS), is applied consistently within scope of function. Stock Control Completes a spares requisition to draw spares from stores or for direct purchases. Team Leadership Guides, trains and coordinates the functions of the artisan assistant
