POST: Food Service Supervisor
LOCATION: SAPS Academy, Philippi – Division: Human Resource Development, Western Cape
REMUNERATION: R193,359 per annum
REFERENCE NUMBER: 3/11/2025 HRD (1 Post)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate competency in the core functions relevant to the post.
  • Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • No previous criminal or departmental convictions/cases pending.
  • Applicants will undergo vetting, including fingerprint verification and security screening.

Additional Requirements:

  • Grade 10 certificate is advantageous.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in food service or a similar field.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Capability to operate basic kitchen machinery and equipment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
  • Carry out general food service duties.
  • Oversee the preparation of meals and ensure cleanliness of kitchen equipment.
  • Set up and maintain dining areas.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment.
  • Handle general administrative tasks related to catering services.

  • As per the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, 2013, all new SAPS employees must provide a buccal DNA sample.
  • A personal interview and/or practical assessment will be required.
  • Employment will be in accordance with the Public Service Act, 1994.
  • Individuals who retired from public service due to medical reasons, severance, or early retirement, or those with prior convictions, are not eligible.
