SASSA Payment Schedule Dates for May 2022

SASSA has recently announced the May grant payment dates. Below beneficiaries may check when they may collect their payments.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has recently revealed that approximately 46% of South Africans are beneficiaries of social grants provided by the agency.

During the first week of every month, Sassa pays permanent grants to qualifying recipients. These grants include the Disability grant, Older Persons’ grant, Care Dependency grant and Child Support grant.

The agency has also announced that permanent grants will begin to be distributed on the second day of every month. In the past, these grants were provided on the first Wednesday of a month.

The announcement means that beneficiaries will have access to their grants earlier every month.

Grant payments for the month of May would have been available on Monday 2 May 2022, however, the Post Office does not provide grants on public holidays.

Beneficiaries may, therefore, collect their grants from Tuesday 3 May 2022.

• Tuesday 3 May: Older Persons Grant
• Wednesday 4 May: Disability Grant
• Thursday 5 May: Children’s Grants

Now that we are heading into the new month of May, as a R350 grant beneficiary it’s important for you to know when you are going to get your SRD grant payment. Here are the R350 grant payment dates for May 2022.

We are now at the beginning of a new month. With a new month comes a new set of payment dates for R350 grant payments.

There are various ways in which these Sassa grant payments are made such as through the bank, Post Office, cashsend or through a retailer.

Post Office payments for May will start on 9 May as the first week of May is used to pay other Sassa grants and SRD grant payments then commence in the second week of the month.

Post Office payments are the most popular and go according to the last three digits of beneficiaries’ ID numbers. Here are the Post Office payment dates for the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for the month of May:

• 09 MAY: 080 & 085
• 10 MAY: 081 & 086
• 11 MAY: 082 & 087
• 12 MAY: 083 & 088
• 13 MAY: 084 & 089
• 16 MAY: 080 & 085
• 17 MAY: 081 & 086
• 18 MAY: 082 & 087
• 19 MAY: 083 & 088
• 20 MAY: 084 & 089
• 23 MAY: 080 & 085
• 24 MAY: 081 & 086
• 25 MAY: 082 & 087
• 26 MAY: 083 & 088
• 27 MAY: 084 & 089
• 30 MAY: 080 & 085

Grant beneficiaries should also wait until they receive an SMS confirmation that their R350 grant is ready before going to collect it. 

If you collect your R350 grant through a bank account, you should be aware that there is no set payment date, since Sassa has promised beneficiaries that they will receive their money. It’s also worth mentioning that Sassa does not pay out the R350 grant within the same time period as other grants are.
